Our Sessions

Ages are suggested suitability, please get in touch to see which session suits your child best!

  • Sundays @ 10:15am - 11:00am

Inspired by filming terminology of a ‘birds eye view’, this fun packed 45 minute session for toddlers gives an overview of interactive games and exercises. Focusing on introducing a fun way to follow instructions, with a couple of ‘Screen School Commands’, playing characters, reading emotions and building confidence. Our Birdies classes will spark creativity and help improve literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills.

  • Sundays @ 11:15am - 12:00pm

A bumper is the pre-film segment that plays before the movie begins. It typically contains the movie studio’s logo. Don’t you get excited just seeing the bumper of a magical castle, before the Disney movie begins?! This is the perfect way to describe what to expect at Screen School, this 1hr15 minute session gives our members the confidence boost and the excitement of what to expect in our longer sessions. Following 6 ‘Screen School Commands’ which pull back focus in a fun way and an introduction to mediation. Role play character work, confidence and communication building games and and introduction to working in front of the camera.

  • Sundays @ 12:45pm - 3:00pm

The Jump Cut - Fast Paced, the jump cut in film terminology is a transitional device that breaks up a continuous shot. Our classes are packed with activities and exercises that although we are working for a 2hr15 class... As soon as we finish our members can’t believe class is already over!

What to expect confidence building, focus practice and making following instructions fun, screen time, acting with scripts, improvisations and devising our own work. A very creative class for youngsters!

  • Sundays @ 3:30pm - 6:00pm

A hybrid is a movie that combines elements of two distinct genre types. As a result, it can’t be defined by a single genre. At Screen School, here is where you work within your own authenticity, your individual self where you cannot be defined by one box. We think outside of the box working in front and behind the camera. Exploring many roles within the film industry. Collaborating in small groups on projects, self tape preparation for the industry, and fun improvisation classes to build confidence, communication and collaborative skills. Whether you are interested in working within the Film, TV and Theatre Industry, or not, this class is beneficial for all to really help set young people up for living independently in the world.

Students will be learning how filming works, to have an understanding of how to be in front of and behind the camera, as well as learning the difference between theatre and screen acting.

We will be working to produce an individual project per term for each student to take home and keep* (these are not assessments because… #NothingIsWrong!!)

*Film footage will be at industry standard, should you wish to submit to an agent or for work within the industry (we will guide you on this should you wish)

What to expect

  • Highly recommend screen school! posy is absolutely fantastic with the kids and in just two sessions I can see Arthur's confidence has grown. He loves going and it's nice to see him enjoying something so much so that everyday he asks can he go. If you've thought about sending your kids then do because it's brilliant! And its so lovely to receive footage and photos of what they are getting up to!

  • My little girl is 8 and I am so glad I found screen school for her! She is very creative and I feel having screen school really helps nurture her creativity and will help bring out more of her potential. I really want her to have self belief and confidence as she grows up and Posy has created such a safe space for children and young people to be able to build this. Also, there is something really great about having a really talented actress who is currently out there doing great things teaching them and inspiring them.

  • I cannot recommend MH Screen School enough - my daughter, Jenna, absolutely loves her sessions with Posy!! The activities are very well organised, and cover all the practical sides used in the industry today, like how to use a green screen, camera work and editing etc as well as the more traditional drama coaching. My daughter would go to Screen School every day if she could!

Posy offers extremely professional tuition combined with a wide variety of fun activities, which have both improved their acting and even more importantly, done wonders for their self-confidence. There are lots of extras on offer too, including parties, film nights and specialised tuition. Brilliant for boys and girls of all ages

  • My daughter loves attending screen school, in her words…”I love it, it teaches me how to act and perform in front of a camera. • My 14 year old daughter has been attending Screen School for a few months. She absolutely loves it and looks forward to Sundays every week. Posy makes it great fun and has so much knowledge and experience to share with her students. My daughter's confidence on camera has already grown and her skills are developing. She has made some great friends in a short space of time and has enjoyed the extra events such as film nights and Halloween/ Christmas parties. I would 100% recommend Screen School. In my daughter's words 'It's banging!!’

    Jane Swift

  • My daughter Kitty attends Screen school on a Sunday, and adores it. Posy is wonderful. Kitty’s confidence has grown since attending Screen School and it is her favourite weekly activity. This is such a different activity to anything else in the town and I would highly recommend it for your children. Posy thinks outside of the box and all the staff nurture the children to help support their talents. Posy will also look at each child as an individual and when is comes to filming this is always shown on camera.

  • I would highly recommend screen school and have told many friends about how amazing it is. Sofia has built so much confidence from when she first started in September, she would go everyday if she could. Sofia has said she would love to become an actress and we love seeing her progress within class every week which Posy shares with us. It’s lovely to see Sofia so passionate about acting. Posy is very good with the kids, passionate about the class/teaching and great with advice. She makes sure they all get a turn in front and behind the camera and includes them all in fun games within the class which they all seem to love to help with building confidence, making friendships and most of all having fun

    Nichola Flammia

  • Emily’s loving screen school. She’s interested in learning more about tv and film, but isn’t keen or confident enough to act on stage as yet. So when screen school popped up it was perfect for Emily. It’s a great way to gain confidence and skills that she wouldn’t have otherwise had the opportunity to gain. She loves the class, and comes out smiling every week. She’s also made some lovely new friends, we’d highly recommend this class

    Louise Burditt

  • We absolutely couldn’t recommend Screen School more! It’s brilliant and has helped Ariella so much with her confidence, performing skills and reading. Ariella can’t wait to go each week. It’s a lovely, friendly environment with exemplary teaching. Worth every penny! Posy is amazing.
